this morning i woke up and went crazy cuz i couldn't find the jeans i wanted to wear and after going insane and yelling at brock and throwing stuff at him because he was still lazily sleeping while i was in this desparate situation of lack of favourite jeans he finally got up and found me another pair of less satisfactory jeans that don't look as nice as the ones i wanted. they were necessary cuz i am wearing a longish oh what are they called....wife beater? (I cringe at writing that) and i wanted jeans with no buttons on the pocket but alas that just couldn't be the case.

today i am the 80s. i can't believe tights are back, i am so excited because I LOVE THEM. i'm not wearing any though, but i AM wearing power-suitish pumps, and an off the shoulder orange t-shirt. and everyone is like, you're oh-so-classy today, nice shoes you classy lady. and also questioning the contradiction of me, because why on casual friday am i so dressed up when on business-wear tuesday i wear yucky old sneakers and a sweatshirt.

it is because I AM COMPLEX ladies and gentlemen. that is why.

anyways. last night, i continued to dominate at tetris worlds. i love the techno music, it kind of freaks you out and makes you feel all tense and brock actually GRUNTS while playing he is trying so hard to beat me. he can't, he just sometimes wins a level by default, because i take risks. we used to play it in university after we got high with some friends (you can play 4 people against eachother) like every weekend for months and man can i tell you that was intense. it continues to be intense, but not as intense as that.

before that we went to chapters at john and richmond. there is that homeless man there with the sign that says 'homeless jedi' which was genuis when i first saw it, but am now so over it that i refuse to even acknowledge him. i have my own local homeless man who i give money too. brock and i are suckers like that, and we've decided to consolidate our homeless people contributions to this one man instead of spreading it out. he's the nice guy with the orangish beard at spadina and richmond if you are curious.

i think this weekend i want to see 'the rocket'. however, it's playing at the paramount, which i hate because I find the escalator frightening. maybe i'll just wait until it comes out on video. we are also going to do some art projects this weekend with fun fabric on the walls. brock is certainly excited about that (not). we are also going to get pvr, which i predict will become a vital tool.

we went to lettuce eatery last night and paid 21 dollars for 2 salads.

i went out to the madison last night and soaked up the last of the warm rays of sunshine on their patio. drinking strongbow and eating bruschetta and spring rolls and talking girl talk was fun. it was especially cool cause we both got to wear our awesome sunglasses and make fun of everyone and talk about our sabotaging bitchiness and cut people up who were sitting outside and clearly not as cool as us. cause we're nice people like that.

i can't wait to start playing soccer in may. i love it when it's dirty and messy and when i play dirty and messy-like.

today they're serving macaroni and cheese in the caf. sounds like a disaster, but as usual i'm willing to gamble.

and this picture was taken on the same day as the last, but after the streetcar, subway, and bus commute. after that, i have to walk through this hole, a dirty parking lot, across a road, and through another parking lot to get to work. nice.

argh argh argh!!!!

today we had a company 'town hall' which was beyond boring and blahblahblah....but the worst was the DISCO theme. Not Cool. SO NOT COOL.

you would think that a company that is the best in its field and huge and massive and gaining great profits (or so they tell us) could do better. but whatever.

last night in yet another situation that proves my awesomnessi beat brock (again) at tetris worlds on xbox. i am so so good at it it puts everyone to shame. at first he beat me by three levels, but i quickly caught up and completely overtook him. we play the square game, for those in the know, and its like my mind becomes tetris and i am a tetris square producing robot of awesomeness.

this is a picture of my street this morning on my walk to the streetcar. love, tara.

today brock and i have gone on a crazy and not-so-wonderful adventure that brock usually gets us into because he needs to use the internet. Basically, its cause he's working on a saturday which I DO NOT BELIEVE IN and needs an internet connection, and we have one at home but genuis with a degree in computer science can't figure out how to work it so now we have been wandering up and down queen street looking to steal or pay and finally found a place (even though there was probably one closer) and now i am surfing the net while genuis tries to figure out a way to hook up to his work network through an internet cafe computer.

it's amusing, really, and truly reveals the dynamics of our relationship...re: my total awesomeness and superiority and his lack of brains. at least he has a good size penis to make it up for this lack of brains. plus, he's cute.

but i really wanted to go to yorkdale today to get some stuff. and also go to a grocery store (somewhere we haven't been in 3 weeks).

in other exciting news, we saw fun with dick and jane last night and it was funny. not hilarious, but ok funny. i think for jim carrey to be really good, he needs to have a really strong director. which wasn't the case for this film.
& also, our kittens (who are not brothers) have turned gay and love eachother brokeback style. whenever they get all lovey i just say to brock, 'they're going brokeback again' and take some pictures to show my friends and to embarrass them on the internet with. i'll put some up on monday. you know you want them...

::RIP Pat Quinn::

While not dead, he's dead to the Leaf's. And while many hated him, that's the way it always is in Toronto. Haters no matter what.

I liked Pat Quinn. The dude was my neighbor in Rosedale, and we would always see him at the summerhill LCBO, or working out at Totem Fitness. He's got that charming crooked smile, and gruff personality that says so much. He was talented, and brought home a month of greatness, letting the Leaf's play out their season in a blaze of glory.

He put Ottawa in their rightful place last Saturday, made them retake their position as the Leaf's bitches.

I hate John Ferguson. That man should rot. ROT. At least Quinn should have been made GM, and Paul Maurice could have taken over. But that ASS Ferguson remains.

If Sundin's next, i'm done.

::REVIEW::
Franz Ferdinand & Death Cab for Cutie, April 17, Ricoh Coliseum

The concert last night was half awesome, half total crap. Franz Ferdinand being the awesome part, and Death Cab for Cutie taking the total crap award.

First, the positive. Franz Ferdinand is amazing live. They are funny, entertaining, and know how to rock a crowd. They were full of energy, full of talent, and sound even better live than on their albums. Their performance live gave their music a depth that isn't really apparent on their albums, which while great, tend towards a sort of forgetful pop. Live, you can detect strong influences of Nirvana, Morrissey, and the Doors. You don't really realize what a great voice Alexander Kapranos has until you hear him play live--it's powerful and can easily compete with the best of the crooners out there. He's a great frontman, and one of the highlights of the show was his hilarious introduction of his bandmates. The band itself is strongly talented, played their popular hits as well as some awesome unreleased tunes, and the audience was easily loving them.

Then came Death Cab for Cutie. *shiver*. The highlight of that show was when someone pulled the fire alarm and it beeped throughout five songs in their set. I was cheering on the fire alarm for drowning out their general crappiness and mediocrity. They were out of tune, danced liked they had to go to the bathroom/were mentally unstable, and seemed about to fall asleep from the boringness of their music. They didn't seem like they were enjoying the show, or even eachother, possessing a fairly obvious disconnect from one another. What I didn't get was how much the crowd loved them. While I was frankly standing there jaw dropped at the horrifying spectacle that is Death Cab for Cutie, all these emo teenagers were rapt with adoration and singing along as if this band was god. WTF?!?!?! I did like their music going in, but leaving that concert I have nothing but disgust. The best part was when my friend and I were trying to make up excuses for their general crappiness and decided that they had probably been thrust a little too early into fame to really get together, and they then announced that they would be playing songs from their 1998 album. So there is no excuse. The one decent song they managed to pull out of their ass was in the encore, where the lead singer played a solo acoustic song that was actually quite beautiful...to a coliseum light with cellphone lights.

it's definitely been a while since i went to an all ages concert. and the last one i saw at the ricoh coliseum was porno for pyros, our lady peace, and i mother earth. all ages concert can make you feel old, but they have a great energy. overall, it was a decent night, and i'm glad i went. it totally made me realize how great franz ferdinand is, and totally turned me off one band for life. Because I cannot respect a band that sucks so bad live.

i'm feeling super stressed out right now but i guess thats ok cause i work better like that.

we finally finished unpacking, which is nice. set up brocks xbox and watched memoirs of a geisha last night, which was better than what other people have said. i mean, the book was nothing more than average, so its best to expect the movie to be the same, right? the cinematography was awesome, and showed us how nice our lcd tv actually is.

the cats are pretty awesome too, but supremely annoying at 7am. meow-like annoying. but they are cute lap cats who are so trusting and loving that i'm glad i picked them up. and of course, they're best buds (they're not brothers).

franz ferdinand is tonight, and i'm not super excited. we went and saw brian byrne play down the street on saturday, and matt good last week, and now another concert? its kinda music overload for someone like me.

matthew good was fine. like i've said before, his music is not the soundtrack to my world, like others i know (*coughbrockcoughcough*). i think i prefer him with a band, because when he plays acoustically, he has a tendency to play his songs really slowly and all drawn out and the like, which is fine, but i could deal with some upbeat songs to give some relief. like load me up and alert status red and symbolistic white walls could have been played with a faster tempo. the one song he did play upbeat was one of my favourites by him, 'hopeless'. the people at the concert was the usual mix, total hosers who hate the fact that the matthew good band broke up (get over it, guys), hipster girls who dance all freaky and sing along in a very annoying manner, club guys with tans darker than their girlfriends/boyfriends, and nerds like brock who live/sleep/breathe matthew good. overall, it was fine, but not his best. and i can compare, because i think i've been dragged to more concerts by him than there are fingers on my hands.

and, i really liked the opening act. even though i resented being there so early. sometimes i hate girls with guitars because they can be incredibly pretentious and condescending, but she actually had real talent.

monday is franz ferdinand and death cab for cutie. i'm going there for my friends birthday, which should be cool. i'm excited about that.

she wants to go to a country music concert next, which i think could be cool. except i checked ticketmaster and there really aren't that many country music concerts. or many that would be appealing to me. i guess the only guy i would (really really) want to see is Garth Brooks. seeing him is up there with going to an Elton John greatest hits concert in my lifetime. which would, of course, totally rock.

work is weird. i'm training this 39 year old woman to do the stuff i don't have time for. she is an intern, but i am 24 and she is 39. 39! i, occupying the bottomost position of the company ladder, am training this woman. it's bizarre. and she is so good about it, in a way i could never be good about it. i would hate anyone who dared to possess a higher position than me that was younger than me on principle alone. even though she can't figure out excel to save her life (like, the incredibly simple parts of excel..ie. widening a column) i still got respect for this woman.

kitten life is fun, but also full of scratches. our new ottoman resembles an installation piece, portrait of tinfoil. it's weird, cause i expected them to be timid, at least for like an hour or so, but they are rambunctious little brats who owned the place the second they got home. when i brought them home without notifying brock that we would be getting a cat. that was fun.

i am going to the matthew good show tonight, which i guess will be fun. brock's the big fan though, not me. i wish i could have seen metric when they were in toronto. i hope they come back.

i'll take pics. i discovered that it is way too easy to upload my pics at work, what with the fast computer and better software. another way to decrease productivity, i guess.

the best part about moving on saturday was when the homeless man outside of our new place tried to take the moving blankets that were folded up on our balcony.

nice.

so our place is a mess. we are of the 'throw everything into a garbage bag and just dump it on the floor when you need anything' school, which meant that come monday morning, when i just needed my pink bra, everything got dumped. couple that with a futile search for socks and my favourite white t-shirt, and you have pure mayhem. but, like, a boring kind of mayhem.
